The 2020 Nissan Altima

The Nissan Altima is a popular mid-size sedan that packs plenty of performance under the hood and comfort in the cabin. There are seven trim levels with 12 total configurations for the 2020 model year.

Performance

The base Altima engine is a 2.5-liter gas-powered 188-horsepower inline four-cylinder. The SR and Platinum trims have an engine increase to 236 horsepower, which lowers the expected combined gas mileage from 32 miles per gallon to 29 miles per gallon. The transmission is a continuously variable two-speed with overdrive. Each trim offers an all-wheel drive alternative to the base front-wheel drive.

Interior

The interior is lush, featuring stitched bucket seating and a two-tone dashboard layout. Utility cupholders and door panel storage make organization in the cabin simple. An eight-inch touchscreen comes standard and makes a pleasing focal point for the dashboard, centered over the climate controls and within easy reach of the driver. The trunk is spacious and holds nearly 16 cubic feet of cargo.

Exterior

The base model comes with five exterior colors, which increases to six or eight colors in certain trims. The body sculpting is smooth curves with stylish crisp lines that accentuate the hood and side panels. The wheels are 19 inches in diameter with eye-catching hubcaps that shimmer in aluminum alloy. Some models add a sunroof and heated side mirrors.

Technology

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto head the technology capabilities, accessed via Bluetooth syncing the car to your smartphone. There's also support for both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Drivers can use Nissan's Door-to-Door navigation system or access a favorite alternative using smartphone apps. A mobile hotspot with 4G is an aftermarket add-on option.

Maplewood drivers can opt for an additional safety package that includes driver assist features like lane departure warnings, blind spot alerts, high beam assist and automatic braking in response to obstructions. Using a suite of different options via smartphone, drivers can remotely lock and unlock their doors or locate their parked car.
